SUBJECT MATTER: The subject matter shall be related to the
use and/or conservation of natural resources (examples: soil, water, plants,
trees, minerals, wildlife, beautification, recreation, etc. WITH SPECIAL
EMPHASIS ON THE CONSERVATION OF SOIL AND WATER) for making a better community
for present and future generations. Helpful items specific to the
2009 theme are available on the NACD web site.
POSTER RULES:
Posters shall be
on suitable paper, 12"x18", and arranged for horizontal
display only. (Paper not provided.) Poster shall not
be
mounted on other background materials.
Posters may be computer
generated, in pencil, pen and ink, paint, watercolor, crayon, cut paper, etc.
Poster shall remain flat without bulky items attached such as macaroni or
beans.
Poster must have entire entry
form filled out and attached to the back
in the bottom lefthand corner.
JUDGING:
Posters from pre-entered classes will be picked up October 1 to be judged by the
Conservation District Board at their October regular meeting.
The judges will select winners according to the score sheet as
follows:

EXHIBITING: Winning posters will be exhibited at the Conservation
District Annual Meeting in January/February 2010. Following the Annual
Meeting, posters will be returned to classes.
AWARDS: Each class will have a first
place winner with a small art-related prize. A grand prize winner will be
chosen from all first place winners. The grand prize will be the student's
poster on a
t-shirt. The grand prize winner poster will
be entered in the state contest which is judged in November. There is also
a national level if the state contest is won. There are also state
and national winning entry prizes.
