The Shawnee County Conservation District will be
participating in the following events.

- First Monday of Every
Month

Conservation District's Monthly Meeting
The public is invited to the
district's board of supervisors meeting to provide
recommendations about the district's many conservation
activities. Meetings are at the USDA Service Center building,
3231 SW Van Buren starting at 8:00 pm, summer months, 7:00 pm,
winter months, in Topeka, Kansas.

Topeka Farm Show
Start the year with a show full
of ideas to improve your farm's
operation.

Conservation District's Annual Meeting
The district's year in
review. It will be held at the Kansas Historical Society and Museum
from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm in Topeka, Kansas.

Shawnee County Regional Crop Conference
The conference, is co-sponsored
by the KSU Research and Extension Service, Shawnee County,
the Shawnee County Conservation District, and the Natural
Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The
conference will focus on a down to earth discussion of the most
critical elements of crop management that has the greatest impact
to success. It is usually held at the Shawnee County
Farm Bureau building from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in Topeka,
Kansas.

Legislative Fair
Held in the State Capitol
Rotunda, the event is to update state legislators on current
conservation issues and to make them aware of activities of
conservation district state wide.

Kansas Flower, Lawn and Garden Show
The district's booth educates
the public on natural resource management, highlighting major
concerns in the county. It is held in the Kansas
ExpoCentre.

Appreciation Breakfast
This event is to thank the many
supporter of the conservation district. Contact us for further
information.

Area IV State Conservation Commission Spring Workshop
Conservation districts from
northeast and north central Kansas get together and talk
conservation.

Women in Ag Meeting
The district hosts a
meeting to give women an opportunity to ask questions about their
land and operation in Shawnee County. The
2009 event was the first.
- April 15

The conservation district
sponsors this event that features several federal, state and
local governmental agencies as well as industry and private
organizations. Each group has hands on activities or displays
that will educate students in many aspects of environmental
issues and sound management practices. Information at the event
will be suitable for students from the fourth grade and up.
Teachers will receive a packet.

From Farm To You
An event targeted to 2nd graders
in the Topeka area, exposes the students to many farm related
activities such as farm animals, crops grown by farmers, chickens
hatching from eggs and many more. It is held in the Kansas
ExpoCentre livestock arena from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in Topeka,
Kansas.

VIP Tour
Each year the district sets a
side a morning to invite community leaders to view conservation
successes and concerns through out the
county.

Rural/Urban Land Use Transition Workshop
As a member, the district assists the
Mid-America Association of Conservation Districts in hosting workshops
and meetings. Ownership is Power
will present an overview of the
rights and opportunities of landowners as they face development on the
urban fringe.

KACD Convention
The Kansas Association of
Conservation Districts meet in Wichita to discuss conservation
issues across Kansas.
