NPS - Non-Point Source Pollution. What is It?
Soil Testing
- Under this program, soil samples are taken to the Shawnee County Extension Service where they are forwarded to the KSU processing lab for analysis. For 1999-2000 the test will be free. Information on testing
cropland, pastures || lawns, gardens.
Failing Septic Systems
- A cost-share rate of 70% of the county average cost not to exceed 70% of the actual cost to bring system up to State standards. Maximum cost-share limit of $1250.00 per system.
Plugging Abandoned Wells
- A cost-share rate of 70% of the county average cost not to exceed 70% of the actual cost to fill and properly cap an unused water well.
Livestock Waste Systems
- A cost-share rate of 70% of the county average cost not to exceed 70% of the actual cost for applying earthwork, pipe, seeding and fencing.

Riparian Protection
- A cost-share rate of 70% of the county average cost not to exceed 70% of the actual cost of applying planned earthwork, pipe, seeding, tree planting, tree revetment and fencing practices.
Un-permitted Dumping Site Remediation
- A cost-share rate of 70% of the county average cost not to exceed 70% of the actual cost of clean-up, earthwork and seeding.
