Burn Workshop
The Lynn and Six Mile Creeks WRAPS stakeholder leadership team hosted a prescribed burn workshop February 2007 in Berryton, Kansas.  Walt Fick, KSU Research and Extension, Range and Pasture Management, spoke on safety, when, how, and why to burn different kinds of grasses and forbs (wildflowers).
Burning is an excellent land management tool, but timing of the burn is key to obtaining your management objective.  Whether the grass is cool season or warm season and whether you want to encourage grass or wildflowers determines the proper burn time.
If you would like to conduct a burn, contact your local
fire department administrative office to learn your burn
permit process.
