Contour Grass Buffer Strips are strips of legumes or grasses established on the contour within a cropland field. A typical layout would see about 100 feet of crop and 20 feet of a buffer strip alternating down a slope.
Some of the benefits are:
Provides a medium by which when water passes through them a portion of the soil, nutrients and pesticides that may be in the water is filtered out.
Provides additional wildlife habitat particulaly if planted to native grass.
