About Us

Established in 1954, the Shawnee County Conservation District is a subdivision of Kansas state government. We are involved in a voluntary program of education, planning and application of conservation practices to conserve and protect our soil, water, air, plant and animal resources. The district works closely with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and other agencies to assist in this effort. The local district is further supported by the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) in Washington D.C.
