Financial Assistance for Conservation Practices

Once applications are received, they will be prioritized with a group based on a point system designed solely for water quality. Projects already started or completed are NOT eligible for funding.

Water Resources State Cost-Share Program
To encourage the construction of many conservation practices, the District, through the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Division of Conservation State Water Resources Program, funded through the State Water Plan Fund, provides financial assistance in building priority practices. Examples are: Erosion and Sediment Control, Pasture and Rangeland Management, Riparian Protection, Terraces, Grassed Waterways, Ponds and Qualified Pond Pipe Replacement with Dam Restorations.
*Note-You MUST have an approved application before proceeding with any construction on practices to be eligible for any payment.

Non-Point Source State Cost-Share Program
Failing On-Site Household Waste-Water System (septic systems or lagoons)-Must be declared failing and repaired along with Shawnee County Health and Environment Department's standards and specifications.

Abandoned Water Well Plugging
Non-point Source projects can also be Livestock Waste Systems, Nutrient Management (soil testing)-along with the K-State Research and Extension Service, Shawnee County, Un-Permitted Dump Site Remediation and Riparian Protection. Please contact us for information on these practices.
