No-Till Drill for Rent
The District has a six foot (6 foot drilling width - 8.5 foot total width), Land Pride, model 606NT no-till drill. The drill has three different seed boxes. This allows for the opportunity to drill a variety of seeds. From corn or soybean sized seed to legume and grass sized.
To pull and operate the drill requires at least a 40 horsepower tractor with hydraulics. The drill is equipped with Pioneer hydraulic adaptors. The drill is narrower than some (six foot effective drilling width, eight and a half foot total width). That is because in an urbanizing county, traversing the public roads is difficult with wider equipment.
Plan on a drilling rate of 3 to 6 acres per hour depending on field condition, We suggest that you are ready to work when you get the drill. This includes having all the seed you need on hand and the tractor fueled up.
To get the drill to your site you will need a vehicle with a hitch. The hitch will need to have a hole large enough to accommodate a one inch pin for pulling.
Final note: The drill is only to be used in fields without stumps or rock layers where drill will be pulled across. Generally it is used to seed cropland areas (whole fields, wildlife food plots, filter strips, cover crops and such) or inter-seeding in pastures to improve stand. It is NOT for pastures where trees were cleared and stumps present. Fields will be checked as needed before renting the drill.
